ClearGuard is operated by Joseph Saad. Contact: josephibrahim76@yahoo.com. This policy describes ClearGuard’s app and support website.
Basic link inspection and unwanted-ad guidance run on your device. Optional live checks described below send information to external services. ClearGuard does not scan other installed apps or read your contacts or call history.
Manual call-blocking numbers, Safari block lists and exceptions are saved on your device and shared with the corresponding iOS extensions. Basic SMS filtering applies local rules to supported unknown-sender SMS/MMS supplied by iOS. The app does not upload message contents for this filtering. It does not filter iMessage conversations.
Link reports are saved only when you choose to save them. They contain the hostname, warnings and date, not the full submitted URL. You can delete reports in the app. Password entries are cleared after checks and when the app moves to the background. Other form entries may remain in memory until cleared or the app closes.
With your permission, manual live checks send the submitted URL, including its path and query, to ClearGuard's Google Cloud service and Google Web Risk. Avoid submitting links containing private access tokens or other sensitive information. The server uses Firebase authentication and stores usage counters rather than submitted URLs in its application database. Cloud providers may process connection metadata such as IP addresses and operational logs.
Automatic Safari reputation checks require separately enabling ClearGuard Live Links, granting website access, and opting in from its Safari panel. They send visited URLs to the same services while enabled. This feature excludes private browsing and other apps. You can turn it off in the extension panel or Safari settings.
Optional threat-list updates download public domain lists from GitHub. GitHub receives connection information such as your IP address. Your browsing history and website exceptions are not sent with these downloads. The list and exceptions remain on your device. HaGeZi data is provided under GPLv3; source and license links are available in the app.
Password exposure checks send only the first five characters of a SHA-1 password hash to Have I Been Pwned's Pwned Passwords service. Your password and full hash are not sent. The matching comparison happens locally. HIBP receives connection information such as your IP address.
An optional manual email breach check sends the email address you submit to ClearGuard's server and Have I Been Pwned after consent. Email addresses are sent in full; this feature does not use email k-anonymity searches.
Firebase Authentication manages the email/password account used for Premium access and email monitoring. Use a separate ClearGuard password, not the password for your email provider. Firebase processes account credentials and verification requests. App sign-in refresh tokens are stored in secure device storage. If you sign in separately in the Safari extension, its refresh token is stored in the extension’s local storage until you sign out.
If you opt into scheduled monitoring after verifying email ownership, ClearGuard stores your account identifier, verified email, known breach identifiers, check timestamps/status and device notification token in Google Cloud Firestore. Cloud Scheduler and Cloud Run perform periodic checks, sending the email address to Have I Been Pwned. Notifications are delivered through Expo and Apple. Notification text is generic; it does not include the email address or detailed breach contents. Checks and delivery can be delayed.
Stop monitoring deletes the monitoring record. A notification already in transit may still arrive. Signing out alone does not stop scheduled monitoring. Delete monitoring account removes the monitoring record and Firebase authentication account. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage that separately through Apple.
Apple processes in-app payments. RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement information, app-user identifiers and related transaction metadata to determine subscription status and support restoring purchases. ClearGuard does not receive your full payment-card details. Your verified Firebase account identifier is used as your RevenueCat app-user identifier. ClearGuard verifies subscription access with RevenueCat on its server; active access is required for live checks, new threat-list downloads and scheduled monitoring. Downloaded Safari rules can remain after a subscription expires. Apple and RevenueCat may retain transaction records under their policies and applicable requirements.
Local lists and reports remain until you remove them or delete the app; iOS storage behavior may preserve some secure credentials. Use the explicit account/report deletion controls where available. Monitoring records remain while enrolled and are deleted when you stop monitoring or delete the monitoring account. Usage-counter documents have an approximately three-day expiration setting; database deletion is asynchronous. Provider operational logs and transaction records follow the providers' retention practices.
You can revoke Safari extension access, notification permission and SMS/call extension activation in iPhone Settings. Contact support about access or deletion requests. Do not email passwords, verification codes or private messages.
Relevant providers include Google Firebase/Google Cloud/Google Web Risk, Have I Been Pwned, GitHub, RevenueCat, Expo and Apple. Their services receive the information described above. ClearGuard does not sell personal information. Transport encryption is used for the app's external service requests, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
The guide video is bundled in the app. External links open websites with their own privacy practices. If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send. This website does not submit a contact form. Its email link opens your email app; sending a message shares its contents with support and the email providers involved.
